Taina Kopra is the founder, ringmaster and artistic director of Sorin Sirkus. She has been responsible for the pedagogical work of Sorin Sirkus since 1985, which has given her extensive experience in circus entertainment and training. Kopra has not only acted as a teacher and artistic director but as a visionary who has developed youth circus, social circus and the entire circus sector.
Taina Kopra is an actress and a clown who graduated from the Commedia School of Copenhagen (1990–1992). She received additional education in the tasks of a circus teacher and a stuntwoman from the Arts Academy of Turku (1993–1995). She has also completed professional teacher training in the Tampere University of Applied Sciences (2004–2005).
Kopra has worked in the circus department of a working group appointed by the Finnish National Agency for Education to nationally develop art in basic education (2003–2005; 2016–2018) and the circus art working group of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (2000–2009). She is also a board member in the Finnish Youth Circus Association and the founding member of the international Caravan circus network. She has acted as the specialist of circus art and art in basic education for the Finnish National Agency for Education.
Taina Kopra was one of the founders and first teachers of circus artist training in the Arts Academy of Turku. She has received several local and national awards and recognition for the work she has done in the youth field and for circus and for the performing arts.
